The Governorate of
Siliana
is one of the twenty-four governorates (provinces) of
Tunisia
, located in the Upper Tell region , in the country's northern section . It spreads over around 4 , 631 km² , with an estimated population of 233 , 100 (July 2007 statistics) . The capital of the province is a city with the same name . With its strategic geographic location , it is bounded by 7 governorates and is therefore a passageway between the northwest and the centre of the country . The Silyanah governorate has several natural trump cards which turned agriculture into its leading economic activity . Among the most significant towns within the governorate's borders are:
