La Goulette Port

La Goulette or Halq El Wadi is one of the major ports in Tunisia that locates about 10km away from the center of Tunis . The name of '' La Goulette'' is derived from the French word'' gullet'' which means down to earth . The reason for giving it that name is its location as a linking point between Lake Tunis and the Open Sea .
The Port of La Goulette is highly renowned for its restaurants serving delicious sea food . Most of the visitors of Tunis prefer visiting this port for enjoying the buzz of its nightlife and the magnificent weather and landscape there .
There are no much monumental places to visit in the city of La Goulette except for the Ottoman Borj El Karrak . Borj ElKarrak was mainly a prison from which the prisoners were taken to be sold in the Suq El berka or the Slave Market . The building is currently in a ruinous state and there are some people living in part of the building preventing visitors from wandering through the lower part of the construction . Yet it is available to visit the upper part of the castle in the upper storey
