History of Oudhna

The village of Oudhna seems to be a town of great history that dates back to the Roman Era . This is clear in the description of the Roman historian Pliny for it as one of the Berber settlements known as Adys .
During the Roman invasion to Tunisia , this area became later the first Roman Colony in Africa . This site witnessed a number of confrontations between the Tunisian and the Roman troops in the 1st century . In the 2nd and 3rd centuries the village of Oudhna witnessed a great process of construction and development . After that it was inhabited by a large number of Christians and bishops . The excavation works of the archaeological site of Oudhna currently aims at covering out the remains of the Roman buildings and finding out the main features of civilization in this area in the past .
