Village of Chenini

The village of Chnini is one of the oldest villages, date back to the 12th Century, and notable tourist attraction in Gabes City. It locates on the hilltop of Chenini Mountain to the southern part of Tunisia sided by two other hilltops known as Douiret and Guermessa. By the passage of time the language of Berbers, Chenini inhabitants, became spoken no place except for Chenini is only used by the elderly women and the old traditions are about to disappear currently. Moreover, most of the inhabitants left the underground caves and houses to love in modern buildings in the new cities. Yet, some of the ancient buildings of the city are used as storerooms for grain and known as Kalaat.
