Utique
Utica City or Medjerda River as known during the Roman Era is a region of great history that date back to the Punic times. It was founded mainly by the Phoenician colony in 1100 BC i.e about 300 years before Carthage.
After the Roman conquest of the region in 146BC, Utica was regarded as the capital of the Roman Province of Africa for a long period. The golden era in the history of the city was under the rule of Emperor Hadrian, since a huge movement of construction was inaugurated. Among the places that were constructed in this period are the new acqueduct and the forum in addition to many bathes and elaborate residence.
