Trifolium House

The Trifolium Villa (also known as the Brothel) dates from the 2nd or 3rd century AD and offers an example of a Patrician Roman house. It lies downhill from the quarters that surround the Forum and the principal public monuments in the south of Dougga. It is considered as the largest private house excavated so far at the city. The once two-storied building enclosed many private rooms which sustained the belief that the house of Trifolium served as Dougga's brothel.
