Trajan Arch

Trajan's Arch is located near the amphitheatre at the ancient Roman site of Maktar. Dating back to AD 116, the preserved monument was dedicated to the Roman Emperor Trajan. There is a wonderful pediment ornamenting the arch's frontage and adds much to its beauty. The south section of the triumphal arch has some readable Latin inscriptions which read: "Conqueror of the Germans, Armenians and Parthians".
