Tozeur

The oasis and city of Tozeur (Tawzar) seductively lies in south west Tunisia, to the north west of the desolate Chott el-Djerid. The city is the capital of a governorate with the same name and it encloses the widest range of welcoming hotels and restaurants. Boasting a dense forest of palm trees, the town itself is known for its delicious fine dates. Tourists visiting the old city of Tozeur are generally taken with the distinct traditional architecture and workmanship. The city is specifically renowned for its yellow/brownish brickwork which is well distinguished with the fascinating geometric patterns.
