Among the different Souqs (markets) surrounding the Zaytouna Mosque are the Souq elAttarine (the Perfume Makers' Souq), Souq elTrouk (the Turkish Souq), Souq de la Laine (the Wool Souq), and Souq el-Grana (the Livornese Jews' Souq). Often, most of the markets date back to the 13th century Ad and they were either named after the community that had first founded it or their traditional trade.
