Qibili
The capital of the Qibili Governorate, the desert town of Qibili (Kebili or Gibili) lies seductively south of the Chott el-Jerid, in central Tunisia. It is considered one of the oldest true oases in whole Tunisia and North Africa which dates back about 200,000 years. In ancient time, it was one a famous slavery trade center. It therefore enjoys a diverse population compared to other Tunisian governorates; and the main ethnic groups living there are: the Arabs, the Berbers and the Blacks. Bounded by Douz and Tozeur, the town provides administrative services to the Nefzaoua region. The city has many facilities including banks, a post office, bus stations, and a good supermarket.
