Mosque of the Three Doors

The Mosque of the Three Doors is one of the monumental mosques in Kairouan that date back to the 866 AD. It was established by Mohamed Ebn Kairouan El Maafri, saint from the Spanish Cordoba City. The Mosque of the Three Doors locates about 250 meters to the northwest of Beer Barouta and it is not open for non-Muslims. The façade of the mosque is gracefully decorated with Andalusian style. This appears clearly in the friezes of Kufic inscriptions of the name of the constructor ornamenting the upper part of three doorways of the mosque. of special interest in these decoration also are the carved cornice and floral relief over it.
