Mosque of Mustapha
To the east from Skifa El Kahla one would find a small square with gernerous trees and vines and a number of small cafes known as the Place Du Caire which is one of the renowned and preferable destinations in Mahdia.
On one of the sides of the square stands the Mosque of Mostapha Hamza that date back to the golden period of the Ottoman Rule in Tunisia. The mosque was constructed in 1772 when this area was regarded as the heart of the Turkish Quarter in the town. Worth admiration in this mosque with its unique Ottoman Style are the octagonal Minaret and the arched doorway.
The mosque is surrounded with a number of Old Mahdia residences that attract a large number of visitors to this area.
