Magon Quarter
Dating back to to the 5th century BC, the Magon Quarter is formed by a a few blocks and a group of vestiges in Septime Severe Street, near the sea coast in Carthage. It is visible south of the Antonine Baths. Covering three insulae, the quarter was outlined according to a regular plan and its establishment presents a continuous urban Roman occupation that goes back to ancient times. It is thought to be an area of the Punic residential artisans that turned into a small place that once housed the Roman workshops. History tells that the quarter was destroyed but the Roman kept the same cadastral orientation, replaced small houses by greater ones, and made many enlargments to the territory.
