Khereddine Palace
The 19th-century palace, Palais Khereddine, seductively lies in a palm-shaded square in Tunis. It contains two buildings – a school for Muslims, another for Jews. The palace is sometimes referred to as 'The Museum of Tunis' with displays and exhibits from the traditional Tunisian life and art. In 1844, during the development of one of the palace's' swimming pools, an inscription bearing a dedication to Esculape was unearthed.
