Khalef Tower

The Kasbah at Sousse was built onto the city walls in the 9th century AD. Its tower, known as the 'Khalef el Fata Tower' or simply 'Khalef Tower', was built by the Aghlabids in AD 859. Named after its builder, this imposing square structure was made the watchtower of the city and later, its light house. The tower measures 30m/100ft high and is considered one of the oldest towers in the whole of North Africa. The view from above is extensively impressive.
