Kerkouane
Kerkouane (Kerkuane) is located 12km north of Kelibia, in northeastern Tunisia. Dating back to the 3rd century BC, the town was once an old Berber town believed to be burnt down in 256 BC by the Roman general Regulus during the First Punic War. It was so named by the French excavators in 1952; and it was added to the World Heritage list in 1982. The walls of some houses can still be seen and buildings were installed in accordance with a sophisticated notion of town planning.
