Kerkouane Museum
The small Kerkouane Museum mirrors the rich history, culture, and heritage of the ancient town. It keeps striking exhibitions and finds from excavations at the site necropolis. Some of the displays go back to the 3rd to 4th century BC. Among the distinct exhibits is a Punic life-size wooden sarcophagus (coffin), commonly known as "Woman/Lady of Kerkouane", believed to represent the goddess Astarte, the protector of the dead. Also on display are fine items of everyday use including razors, kohl pots, tweezers and baby bottles as well as pieces of gold jewelry, fine vases, and funerary statues.
