Kebili
Kebili Governorate is one of Tunisia's twenty-four provinces located in the south-western section of the country, at the very heart of an oasis, on contact with the border of Algeria. It spreads over 22,084 km² with a population of 143,000 (2004 statistics). It is bounded by the Gafsa governorate to the North, the Tozeur governorate and the Tataouine governorates to the South. Its capital is a city with the same name, Kebili. The governorate boasts having a fairly good climate: cold in winter (especially at night) and very hot in summer. Among its important cities are: Douz, Djemna (Jemna), El Golâa, and Souk El Ahed (Souk Lahad). People living here earn their living mainly from agriculture and fishing; Saharan tourism; as well as public works and construction.
