KSAR Ouled Soltane

Another must-stop attraction in Douriet is the small modern village of Ksar Ouled Soltane which lies seductively on a hilltop, 22km southeast of Tataouine. It is formed by a cluster of four-storied ghorfas that appear as a number of barrel-vaulted rooms once served to store grain. Great restoration works had been done to the village to restore its previous impressive appearance. There are two courtyards which offer some of the finest and best preserved examples of ancient ksars in Tunisia; the most lower is used as a stage for performances during the Festival of the Ksour in late November.
