International Cultural Centre
The International Culture Centre of Hammamet lies seductively beyond the Hotel Continental, in the southern hotel zone of Hammamet, almost 3km northwest the town centre. It is housed in an extravagant mansion designed and built from 1920 to 1932 by George Sebastian, a wealthy Romanian significant figure and the first millionaire to settle in Hammamet. The house served as a headquarter for the Axis by Erwin Rommel during WWII. Later, Winston Churchill stayed here to write his memoirs. The celebrated villa comprises swimming pool in the middle surrounded by columns. There is a massive black dining table made from marble and a four-person bathtub surrounded by mirrors.
