Ichkeul National Park
Ichkeul is the only nature site on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in North Africa since 1980. Ichkeul National Park was regarded as a hunting reserve till the end of the 13th Century, but currently it regarded as a home for wild boar, rested porcupines, about 60 water buffalos.
Ichkeul is blessed with being the unique habitat for fish and bird life. The lake covers about 89km2 in summer when the average depth is about 1 meter. In winter, it expands to flood about 30km2 of the surrounding area. the lake is rich in marvelous fish species that people of various countries throughout the world come for seeing it.
