Hammam Sultan

The oldest hammam in Sfax, Hammam Sultan is one of the must-stop attractions at the city. It is located at rue de la Oriba, near the Dar Jellouli Museum, in the heart of the medina. It was once surrounded from all sides by various schools and mosques that date back to the 5th century AH/ 11th century AD. The monument's main door opens into a corridor with two doors. Traditions tell of a relation between the hammam and one or a number of significant sultans or rulers that once came to Sfax and constructed its structure.
