Haddej

About 3 km to the northeast of Matmata, one can find the Village of Haddej; the troglodyte home. It is one of the remarkable tourist attractions for its unique moonlike landscape above ground and its marvelous attractions underground. While walking around the village, one can enjoy the marvelous scene of small Zawyas and mosques with the white domes here and there. Such domes are mainly religious places for Muslim's prayer, but there are some tombs for saints who are believed to be beneficial for people seeking for good marriage or fertility.
