Grand Sud

From the busy city to the charming sandy dunes, the Grand Sud desert is the key to the charming wonders of south-western Tunisia. The huge desert spreads south and west of Ksar Ghine and is considered mostly uninhabited. You can still visit the nearest inhabited place in Borj el-Khadra (92km south of Kamour) where you can find a small military garrison. Being there allows you to see the stunning large dunes between Bir Aouine and Bir El-Borma; and you are advised to bring a 4WD vehicle to enjoy your trip most.
