Ghazi Mustapha Tower
El Borg El Kebir or Ghazi Mostapha Tower is one of historical preserved structures in Houmt Souq. It locates about 600 meters to the north of the Mosque or the Turks. In front of this tower, one can find a beautiful Roman cistern that was used in the past for collecting the rain water.
El Borg El Kebir was mainly a castle and fort established in 1432 during the reign of Sultan Abu Faris Abd El Aziz El Mutawakil. It was known also as Ghazi Mustabpha Tower because he is credited to adding a part to this tower in 1650 under the rule of Sultan Sulayman the Magnificent.
