Gabès Governorate (Qabis‎) is one of the twenty-four governorates (provinces) of Tunisia. It is located in south-eastern Tunisia covering about 7,175 square kilometers (2,770 sq mi)of space. Qabis is inhabited by almost 343,000 (2004 census) population and its capital is Gabès City. Among the major cities and villages of Gabes come: Haddej Village, Matmata that are regarded as famous tourist attractions in Tunisia.
