GUERMESSA

Guermessa is a mountain, ruined, Berber village along the hilltop to the west of Tataouine. It stretched across two peaks connected together with a narrow causeway. One can view remains of a kalaa (fort) above of the peaks. It is hard to get to this least known mountain village of Tataouine and travelers usually pass by the place. Interestingly, locals' houses spread over the hills and are always freshly aired. It is recommended that you get there with a 4WD vehicle to be able to reach the peaks. If you with to make the journey on foot, be equipped with a large quantity of water.
