French Church

One the dominating religious buildings of the city of Zaghouan is the French Church. It lies in Sidi Ali Azouz street, southward along the ridge, near the fountains of mineral water. The church was primarily converted to a mosque after independence and its church tower was made a typical minaret. Later, it was converted to a private school. To preserve its historical value, the building is protected by Roman columns from being scraped by pass¬ing carts and carriages.
