Cyclops Baths
The horseshoe-shaped Cyclops Bath (also 'Bath of the Cyclopses') has been dated to the 3rd century AD. It comprises 12 latrines just inside the entrance. Measuring less than 30 m², the bath was once decorated with mosaic works. It is therefore suggested that this justifies why the bath gained its name. Some of the remarkable mosaic found here are now on display at the Bardo Museum. Whether the building served as a public or a private bath is still uncertain. Some archeologists, however, maintain that the “trifolium villa” is quite distant which may indicate that it served the local quarter or that it was a Roman community toilet.
