Church of Victoria

The remains of the Vandal Church of Victoria lie on the slope east of the sanctuary, below the Temple of Saturn in Dougga. It is regarded by some the only Christian construction to be found in the site for the time being. Dating back to the early 5th century AD, the building was set using stone brought from the temples nearby. Found inside the church were large stone sarcophagi in which relics of saints are still extant. In a vicinity of the church's site, one can find a small hypogeum. One can also proceed and follow the path south to reach the Theatre.
