Bir Bareuta

Bir Bareuta is one of the highly visited tourist sites in El Qayrouwan. It locates few meters away from Ave Ali Belhouane and was mainly constructed in 1676 by the noble Ottoman Mohamed Bey. The well was constructed mainly as a source for providing the inhabitants of the city with their needs of water. There are numerous myths about this well some of which claim that the well derives its water from the water of Zemzem. This is the reason why a large number of visitors currently prefer visiting this place.
