Beja
Beja or Bajah is one of the important cities in Tunis and the Capital of Baja Governorate. It stands about 60 miles away from Tunis City on the side of Djebel Acheb and overlooking the greening meadows and the remains of Roman Fortress. The city is renowned for its fertile land due to its strategic location between the Medjerdah River and the Mediterranean. This made it a desirable place for most of the invaders of Tunisia.
Due to the strategic location and numerous natural resources, Bajah suffered from the brutal assaults of numerous enemies including the Carthaginians, Numadians, Romans and the Vandals.
