Bab Bhar
A wonderful construction in Tunis not to be missed is the huge arch of Bab Bhar (also called the 'Porte de France' or 'French Gate'). As its name suggests, the freestanding structure served as the eastern gateway of the medina which separates the old Muslim quarter of Tunis from the new European quarter. This gate was built in the late 19th and early 20th, when the country was a French protectorate.
