Aghlabid Basins
The Aghlabid Basins or Aghlabid Pools of Kairouan were established in the 9th century during the Aghlabid Period. It was usually used as a resort where the rulers and member of the upper class visit to relax on the pavilion in the center of the main basin during summer evenings. Of special interest in these pools is the huge basin of 5 meters deep and 128 meters in diameter that is provided with water from the water spring in the north side of the city.
Instead of buying a ticket for entering the Aghlabid pools, tourists prefer enjoying the overall view and taking photos of the site from the top of the neighboring tourist center.
