Gafsa Governorate

Gafsa Governorate is one of the major governorates in Tunisia that locates to the south west of the country and regarded as the linking point between the major governorate of Tunisia . The governorate is blessed with a unique location and natural mineral wealth such as Phosphate mines that make it one of the major industrial zones as well . Gafsa is 90 km away from Tozeur , 350 km Tunis , 210 km from Sfax and 140 km from Algeria
It is regarded as one of the densely populated governorates in Tunisia since it is inhabited by about 329 , 800 peoples(2007) . The main sources of income for most of its inhabitants are industry , mining , agriculture , fishing and logistic services .
Due to the notable importance of Gafsa Governorate , it is provided with all necessary infrastructure including highways , railways and airways . It is linked with the other cities with a network of roads that make it the crossroad between many regions within Tunisia and many other North African countries . The governorate is supplied with a railway linking Gafsa to Tunis Governorate . Additionally , Gafsa-Ksar is an international airport that receives a large number of passengers and flights annually .
