Sidi Bou Said village is so named after the renowned Muslim Saint Bou Said ibn Khalef ibn Yahia Ettamini el Beji who lived there in the 13th Century AD . The Mosque and Shrine of the saint are usually visited by large number of Sufi brotherhoods who believe that he was a sacred man . The festival of Kharja is held annually on the honor of this saint in his shrine and attended by hundreds of Sufis .
